ScrollJail stops working? Here's how to fix the most common issues.

Automation not firing / stuck

Symptom: Open a blocked app, nothing happens. Or it works once then stops.

Why this happens:

iOS queues automation triggers while the Shortcut is waiting for your input. After a few attempts, the queue backs up and automations stop firing.

Fix (takes 5 seconds):
  1. Open the Shortcuts app
  2. Find ScrollJail in your list
  3. Tap it once to run it manually
  4. Cancel when it asks for a reason

This drains the queue. Automations will work again.

Still stuck? Restart your phone - this clears iOS automation state.

Check your automation setup

Open Shortcuts → Automation and verify:

  • ✓ Trigger is "App Is Opened" (not closed)
  • ✓ "Run Immediately" is enabled
  • ✓ "Notify When Run" is OFF
  • ✓ Apps are selected (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)

Test if it's working

  1. Close all apps completely (swipe up in app switcher)
  2. Wait 3 seconds
  3. Open a blocked app (e.g., Instagram)
  4. ScrollJail should intercept within 1-2 seconds

If nothing happens, see issue #1 (queue stuck).

Still broken? Reinstall

  1. Delete the ScrollJail shortcut
  2. Delete the automation (Shortcuts → Automation)
  3. Go to scrolljail.com/setup
  4. Follow setup again (3 minutes)

Your account and history are saved - just re-enter your email.
